The Ferryman’s Wake
A 45 min. interactive comedy about the customs and superstitions surrounding death and marriage from the 1800’s till now. The evening starts with stories being told by Al Chewing, local historian, author and owner of History and Haunts of Virginia Beach. Several stops later, you may be the one selected to help prepare the young ferryman for his everlasting reward. Also in attendance will be world famous Belinda Nash, author, house curator and advocate for Grace Sherwood, “the Witch of Pungo”. This is a pleasant intelligent change from the blood and gore attractions so common in the season. Fun and educational, with a slight chill, this event is good for all but the very sensitive. The cost of this event is $15.00 and all of the money goes toward the maintenance and restoration of this house.
Spirit Tours:
8:00 pm. Oct. 10 and 24, and various dates throughout the year
Follow along as you are lead from room to room, all three floors, and listen to the real stories of the true sightings in this beautiful house. Then, spend until midnight in the house doing your own investigations. A member of Ghost FIRE Haunts will be on hand to answer questions about ghost hunting. This attraction is a tax deductible $25. 13 Costumed Docents in 10 rooms of the hauntingly historic Ferry Plantation House. Tales told of hauntings of the house and surrounding area, history of the séance performed, psychic readings and spirit happenings. $10.00 per person. From 8:00 pm to Midnight, $25.00 for overnight guests (approved reservations required).
